Sustainability

At Jawakara Islands Maldives, sustainability is woven into everything we do. Through a series of thoughtful, high-impact initiatives, the resort actively protects the Maldives’ extraordinary environment ensuring guests experience a tourism that treads lightly and responsibly.

Embracing The Power Of The Sun

Solar Energy

Jawakara now powers approximately a 40% of its massive operations through solar energy, achieving an annual carbon offset equal to 124,961 trees. If the Solar Panel system lasts for 25 years, it would equate to planting a forest nearly a third the size of the Maldives, leaving a green legacy for future generations.

The Sea Turtle Health Institute (STHI), developed in partnership with Jawakara and the Olive Ridley Project (ORP), is a pioneering veterinary and conservation facility focused on rescuing, treating, and rehabilitating injured sea turtles across the Maldives.
