Jawakara Joins Global Earth Hour Celebrations

Earth Hour is the largest global movement for increasing awareness about the health of our planet. It aims to get people all over the world talking about protecting nature, to combat climate change and ensure our own health, happiness, prosperity and even survival.

During this annual event, at 20.30 local time, the lights are switched off for one hour, creating a wave of darkness across the world. Caring for the environment is very important to Jawakara Islands Maldives and we strive to do all we can to protect our beautiful surroundings, above and below the surface of the ocean, so that future generations may enjoy them too. On Saturday 23rd March we joined millions across the planet to mark Earth Hour by switching off the lights for an hour; there was a special celebration buffet dinner at Saima and Vela Restaurants with the breath taking view under stars. No matter when you visit Jawakara, there is the opportunity to book a private table for a Candlelight Dinner on the beach or, for an enchanting experience never to be forgotten, a Veli Dinner . Use the Jawakara App to browse the exquisite menus and book – you can also plan your very own bespoke itinerary should you wish to.

Even if you were not able to be here with us at Jawakara, we hope you joined us in spirit by switching off the lights, wherever you were.
